Accessibility Statement

Our Commitment

chichester-jobs.uk is operated by MonakTech. We are committed to making this website accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities, in accordance with our obligations under the Equality Act 2010.

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We recognise that we may not yet meet every criterion and we are working to improve.

What Works Well

We have taken the following steps to improve accessibility:

  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are reachable and operable using a keyboard alone.
  • Semantic HTML — pages use appropriate heading hierarchy (h1h3), landmark elements (main, nav, footer), and descriptive link text to support screen readers.
  • Form labels — all form fields have associated <label> elements or ARIA labels.
  • Colour contrast — text and interactive elements are designed to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA contrast ratios.
  • Dark mode — a dark colour scheme is available and can be toggled at any time, reducing contrast strain for users with light sensitivity.
  • Resizable text — the site layout responds correctly when browser text size is increased up to 200%.
  • No reliance on colour alone — status labels and alerts include text, not only colour, to convey meaning.
  • No auto-playing media — the site contains no audio or video that plays automatically.
  • Cookie consent — the cookie banner is keyboard-operable and dismissable without a mouse.

Known Limitations

We have not yet commissioned a formal independent accessibility audit. As a result, some issues may exist that we are not yet aware of. Known or likely gaps include:

  • SVG icons — some decorative icons may not have explicit aria-hidden attributes, which may cause unnecessary announcements by screen readers. We are reviewing these.
  • Complex tables — the job listings table in the employer dashboard may not be fully optimised for all screen reader software.
  • Third-party content — the Stripe payment form is provided by a third party. Stripe publishes its own accessibility statement.

Technical Information

This website is built using semantic HTML5, Tailwind CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. It has been tested manually using keyboard navigation and with browser-based accessibility tools. No automated accessibility testing suite is currently in use; we intend to introduce one in 2026.

This statement was prepared on 15 March 2026 and will be reviewed annually or whenever material changes are made to the site.
